5 Reasons Veterans Succeed at N2

The Area Director role is not a fit for everyone. While it can be very rewarding, the rewards only come to those who are willing to put in the work. In our experience, those with military backgrounds are highly skilled in five key areas that help them succeed as  business owners at N2:

1. Maintaining discipline.

Area Directors are in charge of running their own business, which means they set their own schedules, maximize their own time, and have the opportunity to work from home – while having access to guidance from our experienced leaders. That allows individuals to flex their entrepreneurial muscles and take pride in owning something they build. But it also requires strict self-discipline to meet sales goals and deadlines.

2. Following a proven program.

N2 has been in business since 2004, and we’ve learned a lot throughout these 20 years. When N2 was a brand-new company, there was so much trial and error. But each error led us to a better solution, and we’ve honed our program over time. Now, with more than 800 successful publications nationwide, we can confidently say we train people on our proven model for success. But high achievement at N2 does require people to be humble enough to come in ready to follow a program with a demonstrable track record – something we’ve learned veterans are able to do very successfully.

3. Believing hard work should be rewarded.

For many veterans, the steady paycheck from the military was nice, but also frustrating because that paycheck rarely changed despite hard work. As a commission-based role, the N2 opportunity means you earn an income that directly reflects your effort. For some, this is a daunting equation. But for those who have the drive and a strong work ethic, this equation can prove extremely lucrative and rewarding. Plus, it’s worth noting that with our long-term sales contracts, our team members enjoy residual income more so than with many other sales opportunities.

4. Exercising resilience.

Veterans have, by training and by combat, resilience that makes them excellent entrepreneurs. It’s no secret building a business comes with trials and rejections, especially in the beginning. We’ve found veterans are especially equipped at running into obstacles and working their way through them successfully.

5. Operating with a heart for service.

Being “in the service” is truly that – living a life in service to others. As an Area Director, our veteran franchisees are still plugged into a life of service, only in a different way. Area Directors are responsible for connecting readers to the local businesses that support us, truly bringing the N2 tagline “connect with your ideal clients” to life. The stories we hear from readers and advertisers about how the local publication has changed their community are amazing – and it’s all thanks to the Area Directors who live to serve them.
