The Case for Recruiting Military Veterans

Disciplined. Self-motivated. A team player. Has a heart for service. These are common personality traits among service members, and they’re just some of the reasons why the N2 Area Director opportunity is a great fit for those who have worked in the Armed Forces. With insight from veterans who have become successful Area Directors, we’re sharing why a current or former member of the military just might be the right fit for this opportunity.

Let’s start with a role comparison, courtesy of RC Smith, one of our most successful Area Directors.

“In the military, there’s not a lot of hand-holding. You’re given a mission and you’re expected to go out and complete it. At N2, they give you all the tools you need, but it’s up to you to get out and do the work. I think my background in the Marine Corps has set me up very well for this.”

In other words, though veterans could, by all means, go out and start their own businesses from scratch, there’s a familiar comfort in the training and support N2 provides. But at a certain point, the independent work of the Area Director must begin. Sure, this may seem like a daunting task, but those who have served in the military are especially equipped to rise to this challenge and meet the goals set before them.

After military life, you may seek to continue your adventures with no end in sight. It’s something we’ve found fellow veterans find appealing about the Area Director opportunity. After all, the hard work ADs put in only increases their opportunity for earnings and the positive impact on readers and advertisers. Not only that, it also increases the support N2 provides to survivors of human trafficking worldwide through our N2GIVES initiative.

It’s safe to say the income potential is an attraction for those with or without a military background. After all, service members can grow weary of the set-in-stone pay structure of military life. But what makes our model so promising for veterans in particular is the resiliency they honed during their service. That same skill can make the N2 opportunity particularly lucrative. Area Directors truly earn what they’re worth, as income is a direct reflection of the effort they put in.

And then there’s the benefit we emphasize so much at N2: camaraderie. It’s something innate in the military world. While in the service, you act as a team and you know you have people you can trust and depend on to have your back. Transitioning into civilian life, however, does not guarantee a sense of camaraderie and belonging in whatever work-life you pursue next. But veterans who join the N2 team believe that when it comes to N2, camaraderie is a given.

The Area Director opportunity is a pretty perfect fit for those who’ve selflessly served in the Armed Forces. But we all know that when it comes to recruiting, N2 doesn’t accept just anybody. And it should be noted that veterans are no exception to our high standards. Simply being a current or former member of the military doesn’t gain someone automatic entry into the N2 world. This opportunity is really for those who are very driven. They’re top performers in the military. They’re consistently receiving high marks on evaluations and they’re not afraid to work hard.

Transitioning into civilian life isn’t easy. But veterans have the tools needed to succeed in the civilian workforce. This specific opportunity provides an ability to continue making a difference, control your own schedule, earn what you’re worth, and be part of an established reputable organization.
