Robert Orso’s story is one of resilience, love, and the quiet strength it takes to start over. For 17 years, he dedicated himself to a corporate career, traveling constantly and working nights to provide for his family of five. “I worked all the time… it didn’t matter if I was on vacation or [if it was a] weekend. I worked a lot of nights, and I traveled extensively around the U.S.” Yet, life had other plans.
In early 2019, Robert faced an impossible reality. His wife had been sick for six years, and by January, she spent most of the month in the hospital. “I was going to have to change careers anyway because I couldn’t travel anymore. I had to stay home and take care of her.” Then, as if fate wasn’t enough, his company laid off 120 employees—Robert included.
Determined to find a way forward, he discovered The N2 Company on ZipRecruiter. He signed his franchise agreement on June 29, 2019. Five days later, on July 4, his wife passed away. Heartbroken, Robert channeled his grief into action, launching his first publication six months later, in April 2020. Today, he owns and successfully operates two publication franchises, Mobile Bay Real Producers and Gulf Coast Real Producers. “N2 was a godsend… the flexibility with my schedule, being able to have more control over my life, and the pride of ownership—it’s just been a real game changer for me financially,” he says.
Robert credits the support of longtime friends and his N2 coaches for helping him stay motivated. “You have to embrace discipline and not wait on the motivation… it comes down to what we’re willing to do with it.” Through loss, uncertainty, and starting over at a stage in life when many would feel it’s too late, Robert has built not just a business, but a new life, doing so in memory of his late wife, who would undoubtedly be so proud of where he is today.
