In a quiet corner of Fox Mill, one local family is helping celebrate a milestone that will unite communities across the country. Residents Spencer and Jennifer Christiansen are part of the team behind Weather Tough Flags, one of the nation’s largest flag manufacturers of American flags in the United States.
For four generations, the family-owned company has built its reputation on craftsmanship, patriotism, and quality. Operating out of their manufacturing facility in nearby Batavia, Weather Tough Flags produces everything from American, state, and military flags to custom banners, feather flags, and branded displays. Every product is made right here in Illinois by a team of more than 95 employees.
Spencer joined the family business in 1988, while Jennifer joined the company in 2021. Together, they continue a legacy that has earned the trust of nationally recognized brands, including Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Camping World, and Belle Tire.
This year, the Christiansens and their team created something especially meaningful, the Betsy Ross 1776–2026 Commemorative Flag, in honor of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. Jennifer worked closely with the design team to develop the flag, inspired by the nation’s enduring spirit and resilience. The response has been overwhelming, with more than 25,000 commemorative flags already sold nationwide.
